Bow Ties & Beignets was born from a conversation between Chad Riemann and R.L. Flowers, Gulfport City Councilman. What started out as an informal breakfast idea where locals could come and learn how to tie a bow tie while making small donations to local charities, a committee of community leaders has positioned BT&B to be a significant financial influence on the lives of children that are cared for on the Mississippi Coast. Fundraising has allowed for improvements at the former Harrison County Emergency Children’s Shelter as well as improvements at the Child Advocacy Center in Gulfport. The event draws more than 300 people annually, all who contribute to its financial success, on National Bow Tie Day, August 28. The funds are raised by silent and live auctions in addition to various sponsorships. We are thankful to our community for the support that has been given to this event and pledge to continue working with community leaders to care for children in need.
