Grover Wise Alspaugh, Jr. 88, of Biloxi, MS, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2022 in Ocean Springs, MS.
Grover was born in Lewisville, NC to Grover Wise and Mary Elizabeth Alspaugh on March 15, 1934. He started school
in Lewisville and moved to Richmond, VA where he was raised. He graduated from John Marshall High School. He and
Mary Ellen Fleming eloped and married on June 19, 1954 in Elizabeth City, NC.
He enjoyed an active life with a 22 year career in the insurance business and a second post retirement career in land development.
Grover had been a licensed recreational pilot, enjoyed boating, fishing, golf and traveling with his beautiful wife, Mary Ellen.
He was a kind, gentle and loving man. He left this legacy to his family and all that he met.
Grover is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years: Mary Ellen Alspaugh, Parents: Grover Wise Alspaugh, Sr. and
Mary Elizabeth Alspaugh, and Sister: Alice Ann White.
Grover is survived by children: Mark S. Alspaugh, (Teresa), Janet Patterson, (Harold), Martha Ann Masla, (Thomas),
Ellen Elizabeth Masla, (Michael) and Eric G. Alspaugh, (Molly). Grandchildren: Melissa, Katherine, Sarah, Rebecca,
Joseph, Christopher, John, Nicholas and Ian. Great grandchildren: Sophia, Ivy, Brock, Violet, Zoe, Samuel and Madelyn Louise.
Grover wrote in his own family memoir, "I felt very fortunate to have lived a very long and happy life with such a great family of whom I'm very proud".
A Celebration of Life service will be held in Nashville, TN at Bellevue Presbyterian Church on October 1 at 10:00AM.
