Raymond Joseph Skinner passed away Friday, January 22, 2021 at the age of 90.
Raymond celebrated life, had many adventures and loved to tell his stories. Raymond was a native of Biloxi and built his home in Gulfport. He was a Korean War veteran and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy as a Petty Officer/Electronic Mate- Second Class. He retired after 30 years as a designer of training aids for Keesler Air Force Base School System.
Raymond loved to fish and hunt. As a teenager, he helped his father and family friend, Alex McCaleb, build a 48-foot shrimp boat in their backyard. Raymond was always willing to lend a hand to help a friend in need and always with a kind smile and a chuckle. He was a true Southern Gentleman and loved by all who knew him.
Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, William and Lucille Skinner; and his sister, Elda Williams.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Mary Joyce Skinner of Gulfport; his son, Raymond J. Skinner, Jr. of Saucier; his two grandchildren, James Skinner and Rachel Gausmann (Gary) of Robertsdale, Alabama; and his sister Gloria Jordan of Gulfport.
A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Biloxi on Monday, February 1, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.
Friends may visit at 1:00 p.m., until the time of the service.
