Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 17, 2014, at a 12:00 PM Noon Mass of Christian Burial in Martin & Castille's La Fleur de Lis Chapel for Claire Daroca Menard, age 88, who died at 10:55 AM on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at her residence in Lafayette.
Committal Service will be in Live Oak Cemetery in Pass Christian, Mississippi on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 1:00 PM.
Reverend Howard Blessing, Pastor of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Lafayette, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Glenn Menard, Dale Menard and Cary Menard. Giftbearers will be Sue Marlowe, Nanci Waldo, Eileen Martin, Janet Rantz, Marcia Peyton and Julie Krambeer. Karen Broussard, organist, will sing for the services, ""Be Not Afraid"", ""Here I Am Lord"", ""I Am The Bread Of Life"", ""On Eagles' Wings"" and ""How Great Thou Art"".
Beloved wife of Edgar J. Menard, Jr.; mother of six daughters, Sue Marlowe (Doc), Nanci Waldo (Steve), Eileen Martin (Eric), Jane Rantz (Gus), Julie Krambeer, Marcia Peyton (Donald); three sons, Glenn Menard (Jill), Dale Menard (Debbie) and Cary Menard. Also survived by 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvan Philip Daroca, Sr. and the former, Margaret Carey; one sister, Dorothy Daroca Buisson and two brothers, Carl T. Daroca and Sylvan P. (Buddy) Daroca Jr.
Mrs. Menard was born on December 18, 1925 and was a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and a longtime resident of Pass Christian, Mississippi and Lafayette, Louisiana. She was a parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Lafayette, LA. She was a former parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pineville, Mississippi and St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church in New Orleans, Louisiana. Mrs. Menard was a graduate of the Academy of the Holy Angels. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church Choir and Altar Society in Pass Christian, MS., and a member of St. Raphael Church Choir for over 25 years. She was the recipient of the 1976 Regina Matrum Award, presented to the Catholic mother of the year, by the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Mrs. Menard was a Past President of St. Mary's Dominican High School Parents' Club and Past President of Cosmopolitan Woman's Club. She and her husband were active in the Couples Speakers Bureau of the Pre-Cana Program of the Family Life Apostolate, for the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Mrs. Menard was Past Secretary of Morality in Media of Louisiana. She was a past member of the S&B Sewing Group of Pass Christian, and the Pass Christian Isles Golf Club.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Ronnie Rantz, Gus Rantz, Justin Krambeer, Andrew Peyton, Adam Peyton, Eddie Rantz, Lawrence Menard and Alex Waldo.
The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's SOUTHSIDE location on Monday, March 17, 2014 from 10:00 AM until time of service.
Our family would like to express our gratitude to Sue Jones and Eva Walker for their care and devotion to Grandma these last years. Grandma's life was a Celebration of Love. She will live in our hearts always.
