Mrs. Yvonne Carter Benton was born December 9, 1934, in Attapulgus, GA, and passed away on April 30, 2023, after a lengthy illness.
She graduated from Havana High School in Florida, and soon married her love, Bobby T. She retired from the SBA after a long career where she was one of the first and very few women to attain such a high government service rank. After their retirement, Mom and Dad loved to take RV trips across the United States and volunteer for the park service. After his death, Mom was a fixture at the Boom Town slot machines and buffet.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby T. Benton; her brothers Paul Winston Carter and Louis Clifford Carter; her parents Lonnie carter and Janie Mae Whigham Carter; and her niece Deborah Carter and nephew Paul Carter.
Mrs. Benton is survived by her sons, Paul Benton (Michelle) and Wayde Benton (Tracy); three grandchildren, Marlana Benton (Micah Lochner), Kaitlyn Parkinson (Roy “Tripp”) and Cameron Benton; five great-grandchildren, Sawyer Lochner, Slade Lochner, Dru Parkinson, Kash Parkinson and Duke Parkinson; nieces Camille Davis, Julia Ann Letchworth, Becky Benton and Renee Montanaro; nephews Bobby Benton (Millie) and Wes Benton (Ellen); and family friend Tammie Bentz. A special note of thanks from the family to Tammie and Janet who cared for her the last few years.
Mrs. Benton will be buried with her husband at Gulf Pines Cemetery in Long Beach on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at a Graveside service at 2:30 p.m. A reception will follow the graveside service at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach, from 3:00-4:00 pm.
