Yvonne Jeannette Andrews, age 85, of Saucier, passed away Friday, May 29, 2020 in Gulfport.
She dedicated her life to her children and did volunteer work. She was a Cub Scout Leader, Girl Scout Leader, President of the 28th Street Elementary School PTA where she received an award in 1971. She headed the Candy Stripers in the 70’s at Gulfport Memorial Hospital. In 1975 she was named “Woman of the Year” through the Head Start Program. She was a member of the Gulf Coast Seventh Day Adventist Church.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Tiller and Lisa Kotsakas; grandson, Brad Downs; 6 siblings.
She is survived by her son, Daniel Wilkey (Anne) of Gulfport; Daughters, Julie Downs (Bill) of Saucier and Sandra Camp of Saucier; sons, Chris Andrews (Melissa) of Panama City Beach, FL and Alan Andrews of Saucier; sisters, Janice Grayling of Posey, IL and Lynn Yennie of Denham, LA; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and many friends.
She was a beautiful soul who closed her eyes and now she “soars”. She was “mom” to 7 but “Big Mamma” to many. Her memory will live on through those who loved her.
Riemann Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport is serving the family.
