W.E. Payne, age 75, of Gulfport, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2011.
Mr. Payne was a lifelong resident of the coast and served in the U.S. Marines during Korean War. He worked for DeViney Construction for 50 years and he enjoyed being outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Laverne Payne, his parents, Wilson and Lucille Payne, a sister, Betty Stroud, and a son, Tony Payne.
He will be missed by his children, Lucy (Terry) Markel, Ken (Carol) Payne, Eric (Shannon) Payne, Earl (Bridget) Payne, and Rhonda Cauley, and his brother, Murdock Payne. In addition he leaves behind his grandchildren, Tyler, Cooper, Cara, Madison, Owen, Tucker, and Wilson, and numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Monday, October 10, 2011, from 4 - 6 pm at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. A memorial service will be held at 6 pm in the funeral home chapel.
