Willie A. Holcomb, II, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023.
Mr. Holcomb was a life-long resident of Gulfport and Saucier. He was born August 14, 1933, to Willie A. Holcomb, I and Beulah Bangs Holcomb Ladner in Saucier. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After his service in the U. S. Navy, he worked many years a tugboat captain, before discovering he had a knack for constructing, so also worked as roofer, before settling on sheet metal construction. He was a lifelong member of the local DAV. He loved to make people, laugh, particularly his grandchildren and great grandchildren, so was always ready for pranks and jokes.
He loved his family dearly, and this love is returned two-fold!! Though his loss is great, he left us with wonderful memories, many of them we laugh about, and great stories to pass down for generations to come.
Mr. Holcomb was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, TJ Ladner; his brother, Joseph N. Holcomb, I; his half-brother, Charlie “CB” Holcomb; his half-sister, Ola Ann Holcomb; his brother-in-law, Ralph Jones; his nephew, Rickie Ralph Jones; and his niece, Kimberly Holcomb Watts.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His surviving family members are: his wife of 66 years, Mary Ellen Bryant Holcomb; his sister, Bonnie Jones Parker; his four children, Kay Holcomb Bermond and her husband Gene, Dennis Lee Holcomb and his wife Kim, Willie A. Holcomb, III and his wife Tami and Enola G. Holcomb; his six grandchildren, Scott Fortenberry, Jeremy Bermond and his wife Bridgett, Joshua Bermond, Adam Holcomb, Tifney Holcomb and DJ Holcomb; his four great-grandchildren, Bailey Bermond, Peyton Bermond, Jonah Bermond and Finnley Bermond; and his many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members and friends.
The Funeral Procession will leave at 12:45 p.m. from Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, on Monday, February 13, 2023, for a Graveside Service at Biloxi National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
Following the graveside service, family & friends are invited to the home of Jeremy and Bridgett Bermond, 11571 Oak Pointe Drive, Gulfport, for a family gathering and refreshments.
