William "Bill" Venable, Jr.

It is with great sadness that the family of William Ray “Bill” Venable, Jr., age 63, a resident of Biloxi, MS for 43 years announces that Bill passed away on Friday, May 1, 2020 in Mobile, AL.

Bill was born in Covington, KY in October of 1956.  He joined the Army, and after moving to the Gulf Coast, his love of the coast inspired him to become a ship fitter for many years.  He loved spending time with family, tinkering with cars, boats or anything with a motor. He had a good heart and would be there for anyone in need.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, William R. Venable, Sr.; two brothers, Jeffery L. Venable and David M. Venable; and his mother in law, Carolyn Rigdon.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sherrilyn Venable; his children, Lisa Mitchell (Stanley, II) , Jenny Hobgood (Blair), Amanda Thompson (Nick), and Daniel Venable (Des); his mother, Janet K. Venable; sisters, Susan Hagan (Donald), Jennifer Shipman (Dwight), and Julie Reynolds (Alan); his eight grandchildren, whose eyes lit up when he came to visit, Stanley III., Seth, Alyssa, Addison, Logan, Laykan, Peyton and Mason.  They all loved him and were blessed to have him as their Gampa; he is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Though times were tough, Bill and Sherrilyn were always there for each other. Wedding vows say, through good times and bad, and they had their share of both, but remained there for each other. He was always the love of her life.

Along with Bill’s two oldest children, he and Sherrilyn raised two other strong independent children, who each loved their Dad and will miss him deeply.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date, after the current social distancing has been lifted.  Bill will be laid to rest in Biloxi National Cemetery.
