William Floyd Whisenant, Jr.

William Floyd Whisenant, Jr. age 73 years old, sadly passed away on June 3, 2024 in Theodore, Alabama.

William is preceded in death by both his mother and father; his wife Kathleen; his stepdaughter, Eunice Marie; and all his siblings.  

William, also affectionately know to friends and family as “Butch” was born on March 27, 1951, to William Floyd Whisenant, Sr. “Chester” and Bertha Williams Whisenant “Polly” in Gulfport, MS where he was also a lifelong resident. He was the oldest of 6 children.  William was an automotive mechanic for over 20 years and was also a long-distance truck driver. In his spare time, his hobbies included watching NASCAR races on TV, looking at car magazines, building model cars (when he was younger), restoring vehicles and walking around the yard with his cane. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his wife and his grandchildren. He occasionally would attend New Hope Baptist Church.

William married the love of his life, Kathleen on December 18, 1981, and were married for 32 years. Together, they shared 7 children and stepchildren: Christopher Whisenant (Sheila), Eunice Marie Seymour, Donald “Joe” Whisenant (Betty Sue), Dustin Whisenant, Michelle Williams (Steven), Krystal Wilson (Joseph), and Veronica Whisenant (Rocky). They had 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.  

Visitation will be from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm Friday, June 7, 2024, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, Gulfport. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm. Burial will be at Gulf Pines Cemetery.
