William Floyd """"Chester"""" Whisenant, age 79 and a resident of Gulfport, died on Sunday, May 17, 2009, in Gulfport.
Mr. Whisenant was a lifelong resident of the MS Gulf Coast and served in the United States Army.
Mr. Whisenant was preceded in death by his parents, William Henry & Nancy Elliott Whisenant; his wife, Bertha Williams Whisenant; his son, Timothy Richard Whisenant; his brother, Frank Whisenant and his sister, Mary Trahan.
He is survived by his children, William Floyd Whisenant, Jr. of Gulfport, Rita Whisenant of Perkinston, Vickie McGill of Gulfport, George Whisenant of Gulfport, and Sandy Sumrall of Gulfport; his siblings, Edgar """"Red"""" Whisenant of Brooklyn and Buford Whisenant of Alabama; his sister, Velma of Brooklyn; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2009, from 6pm-8pm at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11213 Highway 49 North in Gulfport.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, May 22, 2009, at 1:00pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Allen Cemetery in Long Beach.
