William Edwin Smith

February 20, 1931 — October 28, 2011

William Edwin Smith, 80, of Diamondhead passed away Friday, October 28, 2011 in Diamondhead.
He was born in Ruleville, MS February 20, 1931 to Leath and Sammie Smith. He is survived by his wife, Elodie Jane; son and daughter-in-law, Wes and Patricia of Brandon, MS; granddaughter, Jessica of Austin, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Jim ""Rusty"" and Laura of Mary Ester, FL.
Ed served four years in the Unites States Navy, and then graduated from the University of Arizona in Tucson, where he was the Quarterback for the Wildcat team in 1954-55. He received a Master's Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation from Mississippi State University in 1971. He retired from Worker's Compensation in Jackson in 1986 to live in Diamondhead.
Services will be held at the Ruleville Methodist Church on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be held at the church from 1:00 pm until the service. Burial will follow at Lehrton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the MS Heart Fund.
