Dr. William Sidney Robert Ross Sr. was loved and respected by all who knew him, as he lived a fulfilling life as a doctor, family man, and active member of his community. He passed away on May 8th, 2023, at the age of 80 in his hometown of Gulfport.

William was born on January 12th, 1943, in Gulfport to his parents, Samuel Robert Ross and Dorothy Frances Millsaps. He grew up with six siblings, Dorothy Anne Heinle, Roberta Jean Ross, Camille Chappell, Frank Ross, Johnny Ross, and Sam Ross.

He started his academic journey with an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Millsaps College, then went on to study medicine at the University of Mississippi. After receiving his degree as a medical professional, William owned a private practice for family medicine in Moss Point for many years. His contributions to the medical field were commendable and helped many members of the community. Also, he served as a director of Coastal Family Health in Moss Point.

Dr. William Sidney Robert Ross was a man from humble beginnings, who became a man of significant accomplishments. He wore many hats and was a faithful pillar in this community he loved. He had an amazingly wonderful love for his family, for whom he made many sacrifices.

William belonged to Dantzler Memorial United Methodist Church, where he also served as an active member of the congregation. His love for serving his community gave him the opportunity to interact with locals from different walks of life that enriched not only his life but other members of the community too.

William's love for his family was unparalleled; he married Cynthia Annette Ross, with whom he spent 59 memorable years. Together they had two children, Lillian Amiel Pittman (Joseph), and William Sidney Robert Ross Jr.; his grandchildren, Cynthia Pittman, Garrett Pittman, Jody Pittman, William Ross III, Hadley Ross, Thomas Bailey Ross, and Michael Hicks; along with great-grandchildren, Naomi, Auora, Kade and Vivian.

William Sidney Robert Ross Sr.'s dedication to his profession and the larger community won him several long-lasting friendships throughout his life. Those who knew him well always affirmed that he was a man of his word and someone who made others feel comfortable and heard.

A visitation to pay respects to Dr. William Ross Sr. will be held at Dantzler United Methodist Church on May 13th, 2023, from 12.30 PM-2.00 PM followed by a funeral service at the same location from 2.00 PM-3.00 PM. An interment ceremony will take place at Biloxi National Cemetery on May 15th, 2023, from 11:00 AM -11:15 AM.

William Sidney Robert Ross etched his remarkable legacy in his family, friends, colleagues as well as people he met through his work in the community and his commitment to serving others will be remembered greatly by everyone for years to come.
