William “Bill” Wellington Ray, Jr., age 69, passed away May 14, 2022.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Leda Lynn DeWitt Ray; and his father, William Wellington Ray, Sr.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Charmaine Treadaway Ray; son Ryan William Ray (Ashley) of Covington, LA; daughter, Brittany Elizabeth Ray of Hammond, LA; sister, Diane Ray Raley and companion, Jack Harang, of Kenner, LA; and nephew James “Jimmy” Raley (Colleen) of Mandeville, LA.
Bill was a native of New Orleans, LA and a current resident of Hammond, LA. He studied at UNO and Delgado Community Colleges. Bill received a degree in mechanical drafting and was a long-standing employee of Meyer Engineer’s. He received several commendations for contribution of work with the Army Corps of Engineers.
Bill loved God and was a man of faith. He was a loving husband, father, and dear friend to many. He enjoyed a variety of hobbies. He loved the outdoors, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as painting wildlife scenes and other folk art. He had a love for music and especially enjoyed playing his drums. Bill built many things with his hands, including decks and furniture. He excelled in mechanics, participating in amateur stock car racing with his Oldsmobile 442 with a motor he built for it. Bill was a former member of the Red Knights Motorcycle Club. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A visitation will be 1:30pm, Saturday, May 28, 2022, at High Praise Fellowship, 60456 N Military Road, Slidell, LA 70461. A memorial service will start at 2pm, after the visitation.
