William Rainey

William R. (Bill) Rainey, age 77, of Gulfport, died on February 3, 2008 in Gulfport.
Mr. Rainey was preceded in death by his son; Kenny Rainey, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Rainey, Sr; and a brother, J.W. Rainey.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ellen V. Rainey of Gulfport; a daughter, Karon Murmylo, of Gulfport; a brother, Dewey Rainey, Jr, and his wife, Geneva, of Byram, MS; a sister, Jean Graham, of Hattiesburg; two grandchildren, Kristin Cardwell and her husband, Matt, of Knoxville, TN and Amanda Pugh and her husband, Tony, of Saucier; one great grandchild, Rachel Clair Cardwell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, Mr. Rainey served as principal of Sanford High School in Covington County before moving to the Gulf Coast. He was employed at Mississippi Power Company for 36 years where he retired. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Gulfport.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Providence Baptist Church, Hattiesburg. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
