Lt. Col. William E. Postill, USAF, Retired, age 73, died Friday, August 3, 2007 in Gulfport.
Mr. Postill was a native of Chicago, IL and was raised in Downers Grove, IL where he also completed high school. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1952 as an airman and went through the cadet program to earn his commission and navagation wings as a Radar Bombardier.
In 1960-61, he worked with the Royal Saudi Arabian Flying School and was the navagator for the American Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. Later he had a tour in Korea with telecommunications on Osan AFB. He retired in 1972 from the Air Force and went on to wear the uniform for 7 more years as an instructor of Aerospace Education at Ottawa Township H.S., Ottawa, IL. He retired in 1979 and returned to Gulfport, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Gladys Postill, his brother, Lawrence E. Postill, his sister, Juanita Postill, and a son, William J. Postill.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Gertrude Buchko, a daughter, Sharon L. Logan, a son, Dale Allan Postill and wife Julia, granddaughters, Elizabeth H. Brokhoff and her husband Mike, Adi Teodoro, and Jennifer Logan Condra and husband Nate, great-granddaughter, Elayna Inari Brokhoff, and a daughter-in-law, Deborah J. Postill.
A graveside service will be held 10:00 am Tuesday at Biloxi National Cemetery.
