William Henry Marshall, a cherished member of the Gulfport, Mississippi community, passed away on March 26, 2025, at the age of 84, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 17, 1940, in Worcester, Massachusetts, William dedicated his life to service and education, marking significant milestones in his career and personal pursuits.
William retired from the United States Air Force, where he specialized in radio communications. His contributions to the military were further enriched by his role as an Instructor at Keesler Air Force Base following his retirement. This commitment to service exemplified his dedication to both his country and the individuals he mentored throughout his career.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, William was an avid photographer who enjoyed capturing the beauty of the world through his lens. He was also passionate about the outdoors, dedicating time as a Boy Scout Leader, where he shared his love for nature and instilled valuable life lessons in young scouts. His curiosity extended into the realm of technology, as he enjoyed working with computers and embraced the freedom and adventure of riding BMW motorcycles.
William was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sammie Dell Marshall; and his parents, William Henry and Emily Mae Marshall. His legacy continues through his surviving family members, including his sons, Sean Andre Marshall (Elizabeth) and William "Billy" Henry Marshall. He was a proud grandfather to Samantha Ann Marshall, Lauren Elizabeth Poole (D'Juan), and Martha Mae Marshall. Additionally, he is survived by his great-grandchildren, Joeseph Ray Poole and Adam Lee Poole, who were a source of immense joy in his life.
A visitation in celebration of William's life will be held on April 11, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, located at 11322 W Taylor Road, Gulfport, MS 39503. This will be followed by a funeral service at the same location at 11:00 AM, concluding with a burial at Biloxi National Cemetery at 12:30 PM.
William Henry Marshall will be remembered not only for his service to his country but also for his profound impact on those he loved and mentored. His legacy of kindness, adventure, and perseverance will continue to inspire all who knew him.
