William Calvin Manning, born June 16, 1931, in Bridgeport, AL, died December 24, 2008, at Walter Reed Hospital, in Washington D.C.
He was a retired Army Sergeant Major, 11th Airborne Division (Paratroopers) and served in Korean and Vietnam wars.
He was the son of the late Harry and Lois Manning of Jacksonville, FL.
He leaves four sisters, Dora N. Googe Mitchell of Live Oak, FL, Ilynn Miller of Jacksonville, FL, Marilyn Williams of Charleston, SC, and Bobbie Burnette of Jacksonville, FL; one brother, Larry K. Manning, of Jacksonville, FL; nephews, Rev. Henry C. Googe and Richard Googe, both of Gulfport; niece, Pamela Schiefer, of Lake City, FL; and fifteen other nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2008, at 2:30 PM at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
