William Edward Ledford, 76 of Diamondhead, MS passed away March 19, 2012.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother Wilbur George Ledford and Florence Virginia Duggar Ledford.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Boykin Ledford ,married 57 years, both from Little Rock Arkansas; his brother Clarence Ledford and his wife, Jane Ledford of Sugar Tree, TN; daughter Paige Hedden of Diamondhead, MS; daughter Shannon King and her husband, George King of Denver, CO; granddaughter Whitney Lauren King, grandson Ford Olin King, grandson Robert Dennis Brownsberger and granddaughter Savannah Sue Hedden.
Bill was very proud to have served in the United States Marine Corp. and while serving in Hawaii, he was asked to try out as a platform diver for the 1956 Olympics. Bill was a graduated of Arkansas State Teachers College. He then worked in Management for Shell Oil Company for 32 years.
Bill was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a loyal friend and will be missed by many. Bill was an avid golfer until back surgery and enjoyed playing at Diamondhead Country Club.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to American Cancer Society, 417 Security Square, Gulfport, MS 39507.
The funeral service will be held at 9:30AM, Friday, March 23, 2012 at Diamondhead Community Church, 5301 Diamondhead Circle, Diamondhead, MS 39525.
Bill's ashes will be scattered on the Tennessee River where his brother and wife live and he enjoyed spending time.
