William Duncan Lamb

October 18, 1946 — January 31, 2015

William Duncan Lamb passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at his home in Diamondhead, Mississippi, in the arms of his loving wife and surrounded by his beloved family after a courageous battle with pancreatic and liver cancer. He died just where he wanted to be, in front of his windows where he could see the wildlife, nature and the birds that gave him so much pleasure, with his family close to him.
Duncan was born on October 18, 1946, in New Orleans, Louisiana and moved to the Gulf Coast as a young child. He had fond memories of growing up sailing, water-skiing, and swimming in ""The Bay"". Summers were spent with friends, running barefoot and free between his house and the Bay Waveland Yacht Club. He attended St. Stanislaus and Bay High where he forged many lasting friendships. He served in the US Navy and especially loved talking about his memories of time spent in Guam and South Africa. He earned a degree in Electronic Engineering and began a career with US Border Patrol and the US Navy in communications. He worked in Marine Electronic sales for a while, but his heart was in Government Service. He loved his time as a crew member of the P-3 and Citations as part of the US Customs Air Interdiction program out of Belle Chase. He later transferred to the new Gulfport office to help open the Blue Lightning Operations Center specializing in Marine Interdiction. During his career, he received many commendations for his excellent work and professional testimony in federal trials prosecuting drug dealers with international ties. Duncan loved fishing, duck hunting, boating, but most of all his family. He and his family moved to Diamondhead in 2006 after losing their home in Bay St. Louis to Katrina. Duncan loved Diamondhead and forged many wonderful friendships. He served as the King of the Krewe of Diamondhead in 2010, and was a Duke on the Boater's Court in 2011. He was a member of the Krewe of Olympus and was resisting his wife's desire to be queen again. He was pre-deceased by his parents, William Robertson Lamb and Anita Duncan Lamb and his in-laws, Joseph Edward and Patricia Viguerie.
Duncan leaves behind to cherish his memories his beloved wife of forty-three years, Janie Baron Viguerie Lamb and two sons: William Robertson (Duyen) Lamb, II and Robert Duncan (Emily) Lamb and his adored and precious grandchildren who brought him the greatest joy: William Duncan Lamb II, Dylan Joseph Lamb, Spencer Tai Lamb, Addison Patricia Lamb, Brendan Jean' Lamb, Cooper Duncan Lamb, Madison Jane Lamb, and Asia Magee. He made certain that they knew that their G'Pa would always be watching over them and would be there surrounding them with love and support whenever they needed him.
Duncan is survived by his siblings: Margaret ""Peggy"" Lamb Dutton, Robert Norman (Marsha) Lamb, Michael Roberston (Marie) Lamb, Shannon William (Margie) Lamb, Marie Therese Lamb, Peter Eric (Johnnia) Lamb, James Kendall (Charlotte) Lamb and John Paul Lamb, his sister-in-law, Dorothy Viguerie Sjostrom, and nephew Kyle Sjostrom, brother-in law, Edward Jean (Lisa) Viguerie, and brother-in-law, Bruce Allen (Lisa) Baron, niece Brooke and Thomas Maxwell Baron.
He will live on in the love and hearts of his family through his quiet strength, moral character and the loyalty of his convictions that he passed on to his sons and grands. He will be missed by many for a long, long time.
The family wishes to send special thanks to Dr. Allison Wall, her staff (especially Sharon Gaudin and Vicky) for their caring and compassion and to Kristy Nicaud, Tiffany Tyrne, Michael Kelly and ""Miss Pat"" of Southern Care Hospice for the kind and loving care they gave Duncan over those last 4 days. They were blessings from heaven!
