Mr. William Owen ""Odie"" Herrin, age 73, passed away at home on Sunday, April 13, 2014.
Mr. Herrin was born at home in rural Harrison County on January 26, 1941 to Taylor E. Herrin and Lula Aultman Herrin, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Elbert Herrin, Everett Herrin, Louie Herrin and Thomas E. Herrin; three sisters, Eunice Herrin White, Alma Clemens, and Alice Herrin; and son-in-law James D. Milburn.
He is survived by his three children, Col. Melanie Herrin Milburn, U. S. Air Force, of Biloxi, William Russell ""Rusty"" Herrin (Brenda), of Biloxi, and Wayne Ronald ""Ronnie"" Herrin (Annie) of Ocean Springs. He is also survived by a brother, James Herrin of Pensacola, FL; and two sisters, Doris Oxford (Irley) and Noba Kate McLemore, both of Gulfport. He leaves behind seven grandchildren, Charles Cantu, William R. Herrin II, Breanne Herrin, Matthew Herrin, Caitlyn Herrin, Bianca Milburn, and Emily Milburn.
Bill ""Odie"" graduated from Perkinston Agricultural High School in 1959. He was very proud to have served in the U. S. Army, 1963 - 1967, attaining the rank of Specialist 5th Class. He was a member of the Gulf Coast Bowling Association for many years. He loved the sport and bowled in many local, state, and national tournaments until his health declined.
Bill retired from the Gulfport VA Medical Center. He is of the Baptist Faith.
The funeral service will be 11:30 a.m., Friday, April 18, 2014 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Biloxi, where friends may visit two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, charitable gifts may be made to one's favorite charity.
