William E. “Bill” Hall II, age 85 of Pass Christian, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 8, 2022.
Mr. Hall was preceded in death by his parents, William and George (Baker) Hall; his wife, Peggy (Sawtelle); and his brother, James.
He is survived by his daughters, Julia (Hall) Cummings and husband James and Diana (Hall) Duebelbeis and husband Tom; his step-daughter, Valerie Howell; his three grandchildren, Nicholas, Luke, and Mary Grace Cummings; and his cousin, Charles and his wife Darlene Baker.
Mr. Hall was born in Steubenville, Ohio and raised in Weirton, West Virginia. He attended West Virginia University and later served in the US Army as a medical specialist at Valley Forge General Hospital, where he met his first wife, Mary Fakete. Upon discharge, he enter the Management Training Program at National Steel’s Weirton Division, ultimately working in sales at the St. Louis office. In 1966, Mr. Hall joined St. Louis Terminals in Sales/Services for St. Louis Granite City, IL and Memphis, TN. In 1972, he was promoted to Vice President/General Manager. A notable point to his career was arranging and overseeing the loading and barge transport of NASA’s Skylab Space Station, prior to launch in 1973. Later, Bill was involved in promoting the City and Port of St. Louis to Japanese shippers and investors.
His professional management career included: The Orba Corporation, International Marie Terminals, Mid-South TransLoad, California Steel Pressure Pipe. Prior to retirement, he served as Director of the Alabama State Docks bulk operations.
Bill was an avid golfer and boater and was a member of the Pass Christian Yacht Club.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM, Friday, March 18, 2022, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, Long Beach. The funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM at the funeral home chapel, followed by interment at Live Oak Cemetery, Pass Christian.
