William Lee Flowers, age 83, resident of Stone County, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, in Gulfport.
Mr. Flowers was born in Paris, TX to the late Oliver Lee Flowers and Oza Rhea Ford Flowers. He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII on the U.S.S. Wilson (DD-408). He was a retired Christian minister/missionary and master collector. He was a former engineer for NASA on the Saturn 5 Moon Rockets.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Virginia Ellen Davidson Flowers; 3 brothers, Ernest Earl Flowers, Buryl Flowers, and David Curtis Flowers.
He is survived by his children, Rosalee Dameron of Overland Park, KS, Mary Hicks (Ray) of Greenville, TX, Robert Flowers (Shirleen) of Gulfport, Charlotte Mangrum (Fred) of Raymondville, TX, John Flowers (Rebecca) of Gulfport, Paul Flowers (Pamela) of Fairfield, CA, Rachel Duckworth (James) of Sulphur Springs, TX, Lois Flowers of Grand Prairie, TX; 4 sisters, Louella Boyd of Lewisville, TX, Helen Matlock of Paris, TX, Joan Ballard of Center, TX, Mary Gonzalez of San Antonio; 5 brothers, George Flowers of Powderly, TX, John Flowers of Antioch, CA, Richard Flowers of Dike, TX, Wayne Flowers of Texarkana, TX, Floyd Flowers of Mountain Home, AR; 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; and special friends, Rev. Roy Craft and ShirliJean Craft.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 6, 2009, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, where friends may visit from 6-8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2008, at 11:15 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.
