William Robert Davis, age 78 and a resident of Long Beach, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2006 in Gulfport.
Mr. Davis was a native of Dothan, AL and had been a resident of Long Beach since 1971. Mr. Davis served his country for 28 years and 28 days in the United States Navy. He retired as a Master Chief Petty Officer on October 1, 1975. He served during the Vietnam War and toured the world, serving on seven ships and was stationed on all three US Coasts. Following the Navy, Mr. Davis earned an Associates Degree from MGCCC-Jeff Davis Campus. He worked for several years at Morgan Glass in Gulfport as an office manager and then worked for 15 years with H & R Block in Gulfport. He was also a member of First Baptist Church of Long Beach. Mr. Davis will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Mr. Davis is preceded in death by his parents, William Albert & Mabell Andrews Davis. He is survived by his devoted & loving wife of 51 years, Jeanette Davis of Long Beach; his daughters, Rene (Roger) Davis Chapin of Fort Worth, TX and Tammy (Robbie) Davis Lee of Ocean Springs; his son, Robert D. (Mary Alice Finley) Davis of Plano, TX; his sister, Luverne Brookeins of Cottonwood, AL; his brother, Edsel """"Dee"""" Davis of Dothan, AL and his six grandchildren, Lauren Chapin of Fort Worth, TX, Kelsey Lee and Katelyn Lee both of Ocean Springs, Jason Davis, Zachary Davis, and Emma Davis all of Plano, TX.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at 12 Noon at Gulf Coast Funeral Homes, Inc., Three Rivers Road Chapel in Gulfport, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service.
