William C. """"Bill"""" McCaughan, Jr., age 83 and a resident of Long Beach, died on Wednesday, December 23, 2009, in Gulfport.
Mr. McCaughan was a native of Clarksdale, MS. He was a graduate of the University of Mississippi and he received his Masters Degree from the University of Tennessee. He was employed for 25 years at the V.A. Hospital in Gulfport, as a certified Psychiatric Social Worker.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Calvin & Clara Armstrong McCaughan, Sr., his daughter, Lucia McCaughan McDaniel, and a brother, George Armstrong McCaughan.
Mr. McCaughan is survived by his wife, Reedie Harlow McCaughan of Long Beach; his children, William C. """"Billy"""" McCaughan, III, of Gulfport, and Charles Harlow McCaughan of Port Angeles, WA; his brother, Joseph (Sally) McCaughan of Savannah, GA; his granddaughter, Lucia McDaniel (Damon) Matheny and his great-grandson, Dawson Lee Matheny, all of Long Beach.
A Requiem Eucharist Service will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's By-The-Sea Episcopal Church in Gulfport, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Long Beach City Cemetery.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Peter's By-The-Sea Episcopal Church, 1909 15th. Street, Gulfport, MS 39501.
