William Raymond Carrigee, Sr.(Bill), age 69, of Hattiesburg, MS, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Forrest General Hospital. Born on June 21, 1955, in New Orleans, LA, to Richard and Doris (Yvonne) Carrigee. A 1973 graduate of Holy Cross High School, Bill married his high school sweetheart, Susan Mares Carrigee, on June 16, 1973. They shared 51 years of marriage and raised two children together.

Bill dedicated much of his life to the construction industry. He served as the Building Official for the City of Bay St. Louis from 1993 to 2006, playing a crucial role in assessing damage and rebuilding efforts after Hurricane Katrina. He later founded Carrigee Consulting, LLC, where he taught code classes to inspectors and contractors, earning widespread respect in his field.

Bill was known for his outgoing nature and larger-than-life personality. He was passionate, opinionated, and always made his presence felt. His greatest pride was his family, whom he supported wholeheartedly and cherished deeply. He was affectionately known as “PawPaw” and was a steadfast supporter of his children's and grandchildren's  activities.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Yvonne Carrigee; his sister, Wanda Ory; and his brother, Steven Carrigee. Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Susan; his son, William R. Carrigee, Jr. (Melissa) of Picayune, MS; his daughter, Tara McLelland (Brian) of Hattiesburg, MS; five grandchildren, Logan Jones (Megan), Ben Carrigee, Henry McLelland, Maggie McLelland, and Mickey McLelland; two great-grandchildren, Silas Mueller and Delaney Jones; and his cherished pet, Piper, who brought much joy and companionship to his life.
