William Barrett

William “Bill” Barrett, age 90, passed away February 2, 2022.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Lennie Barrett; his brother Albert Barrett; his sisters, DeLois Harber and Joyce Carlisle.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Louise Horn Barrett; his children, Melba Barrett, Rhonda Haney (Greg), Brad Barrett (Nancy), and Wes Barrett (Michelle); his brother Richard Barrett (Maurine); six grandchildren, Scott Haney, Sean Haney, Luke Haney (Crystal), Justin Barrett (Laney), Alyssa Hill (Jarrod), and Ryan Barrett; five great grandchildren, Lawson Barrett, Linkin Barrett, Layten Barrett, Lyndon Barrett, and Barrett Haney.

He graduated from Long Beach High School. Bill served in both the Air Force and the Navy. He was a member of Perkinston Baptist Church. Bill was born in Scott County but had lived most of his life on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He met Louise and they raised a family in Long Beach. Bill retired after working 35 years with Bell South Telephone Company, and after selling their Long Beach home in 1992, they traveled and spent time on their Perkinston property. By 1996, they had built a little cabin in the woods. Bill enjoyed spending time outside and working in his shop repairing anything that was broken.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at Perkinston Cemetery, 2nd Street, Perkinston, MS.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to a charity of your choice.

Riemann Family Funeral Home, Gulfport, is serving the family.
