Willard Irwin Holmes, age 69 and a resident of Long Beach, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2008, in Long Beach.
Mr. Holmes was preceded in death by his parents, Robert H. """"Bob"""" Holmes, Sr. and Margaret E. Holmes; and a brother, J.T. """"Tommy"""" Holmes.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Shirley Holmes; four children, Michael I. (Ginger) Holmes, of Pass Christian, Margaret """"Peggy"""" (Kerwin) Cuevas, of Long Beach, Sandra Moody, of Long Beach, and Judy (Marc) Maxwell, of Gulfport; ten grandchildren, Bradley, Justin and Haley Holmes, of Pass Christian, Stephanie, Alison and Madeline Cuevas, of Long Beach, Garrett and Brice Moody, of Long Beach, and Clayton and Gabbie Maxwell, of Gulfport; three brothers, Bob (Dot) Holmes, Jr., of Brooksville, Len (Diane) Holmes, of Gulfport, and Phil (Jean) Holmes, of Gulfport; five sisters, Peggy Holmes and Louise (Bennie) Woodlief, both of Tallahassee, FL, Mary (Bob) Mittler and Dot Jones, both of Destin, FL, and Sally Holmes, of Orlando, FL.
Mr. Holmes was employed for many years as Warehouse Manager for Sears in Gulfport. He was retired from the Mississippi National Guard Unit 1065th in Biloxi-Ocean Springs. He was also retired from Dupont, Delisle, and was currently employed by Zachry at the Dupont Delisle site.
Special thanks to all his many friends, neighbors and all his co-workers at Dupont for all the prayers, visits and love shown during his long battle with skin cancer. For all his hard work and dedication, Dupont Bldg. 59 is now know as the W.I. Holmes Bldg. and for this we are so grateful.
We are thankful for the Doctors and Nurses, especially the Memorial Hospital Hospice team who worked so hard during his sickness.

The visitation will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2008 from 5:30 PM until 8:00 PM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Rd, Long Beach. The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 21, 2008 at 8:30 AM at the funeral home chapel. Burial with full military honors will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
