Mr. Willard Earl Billington, age 77, resident of Ocean Springs. passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2009, in Gulfport.
Mr. Billington was born in St. Louis, MO to the late Willard Patrick and Flora O'Bannon Billington on September 25, 1931. He served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from Civil Service at Keesler Field in 1988. Mr. Billington was an avid golfer and musician, having played the mandolin in the the bands, Goldrush and Southern Traditional Bluegrass Band. He attended LeMoyne Boulevard Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Florence Carleton, Hollie Billington, Esta Jackson, and Rolla P. Billington.
He is survived by his longtime companion of 32 years, Becky Franz of Gulfport; daughter, Sheree A. Cantrell of Biloxi; grandsons, Michael A. Cantrell and his wife Whitney of Saucier, and Timothy D. Cantrell of Biloxi; special friends, Hazel and Jerry McKenzie, and Mac and Minnie McCoy; many special nieces, nephews, and cousins; and Shep, his loyal hound.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 4, 2009, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, at 2:00 p.m., where friends may visit one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Cemetery.
