On the seventy-fifth anniversary of her birth, Wilda entered heaven to be with Christ, her Savior, her loving and caring parents, Calvin M. and Emmie Gill Switzer and her beloved sister, JoAnna Switzer (Mrs. Travis Earl) Hudson.
She is survived by her sister, Calvinia Switzer, her niece, Patricia Earle Hudson of Long Beach; her nephew and his wife, Calvin Michael and Lisa Hudson of Leeds, AL and the joy of her life, her grand-nephew, Wesley Hudson of Mississippi State University.
Wilda was Director of Harrison County Training Center for Exceptional Children for more than thirty years. She was a graduate of Gulfport High School, Perkinston Jr. College, and attained a Bachelors and Masters Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 119, the Gulfport Garden Club, the Gulfport Yacht Club where she served two terms as President of the Ladies Auxiliary, and other civic organizations.
Her proudest accomplishment was nurturing forty foster babies awaiting adoption, many of whom still cherish her love as ""Granny.""
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that her friends do an act of kindness for a child or make a contribution, in memory of Wilda, to the following: Homes of Hope for Children, P.O. Box 18496, Hattiesburg, MS 39404 (www.hohfc.org).
