Wilbert Eric Myles, affectionately known to most as “Blue,” was a proud father, grandfather, and follower of Christ. A natural born leader, Blue inspired everyone who encountered him with his strength, charisma, sense of humor, and generous heart.
Blue was born in Woodville, Mississippi on August 4, 1959, and he graduated from Wilkerson County High School in 1978. He served on the Mississippi Highway Patrol for 12 years and was a beloved Painter at Industrial Painting Limited for 11 years. Blue took immense pride in his work, going above and beyond until his last breath.
He is survived by five children: Valtresa Shena (34), Wilbert Anthony (31), Shelby Lynne (25), Stephanie Shari (23), and Aleah Shernel (21); his first grandchild Teddy (2); his sisters Rosa and Mary and brothers Charles, Joseph, and James; several nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends Vernon Randles and Ned Robinson.
Blue was preceded in death by his mother; his father; his sister, Clara; and his brother, Willie.
Blue approached life with an unwavering sense of ease, lightheartedness, and patience. He never complained and knew no strangers. His infectious smile and distinct belly laugh brought joy to many people around the Gulf Coast, his hometown, and anywhere else he was. He arrived to meet his Creator on August 24, 2021 and he will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him here on earth.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 5, 2021, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19160 Commission Road, Long Beach, with a visitation from 12:00 until the service.
