Mr. Wesley Eugene Davis, 73, of Baxter, TN passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center, Cookeville, TN.
Mr. Davis was born in Glenhedrick, WV on October 29, 1934, the son of the late Jack and Ruby (McCoy) Davis. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years, and then joined the U.S. Coast Guard where he served as BMC in the Vietnam war receiving the Vietnam Service Medal, and Good Conduct Award. He was the Boast Master Chief while serving with the Coast Guard in Michigan for 20 years before retirement and relocation to Gulfport in 1971.
He is preceded in death by his previous wife, Elaine; his brothers, James, Bill and Paul; his sister, Katherine; grandson Christian; and his great-granddaughter, Kaitlin.
He is survived by his wife Lillian Ruth (Gentry) Davis of Baxter, TN; his daughters, Patricia Dedeaux and fiance Larry Benefield of Gulfport, MS, Karen Smeltzer and husband Douglas of Prattville, AL, Teresa Davis of Houston, TX; step daughter, Dorraine Harless and husband Tony of Alcoa, TN; his sons, Christopher Perry of Laguna Hills, CA; Danny Burnette and wife Kim of Maryville, TN; his brother Jack Davis and wife Betty of Gulfport. Granddaughters Shawn Lindenborn and husband Brian of Canton, GA, Andrea Haley and husband Matthew of Gulfport, Heather Harless of Alcoa, TN; his grandsons, Andrew Dedeaux of Gulfport, MS, Joshua Harless of Alcoa, TN, his great granddaughter, Aryan Cothern of Alcoa, TN, his great grandsons, Jordan Haley, and Jayden Haley both of Gulfport, MS, his sister-in-law Ann Potter (Dan) of Cookeville, TN, his beloved Yorkie George, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 16, 2007 at 11:30 a.m. where family is receiving friends 10:30 a.m. at THE RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road chapel. Interment will follow with graveside services at Biloxi National cemetery at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 417 Security Square, Gulfport, MS 39507.
