On Monday morning August 30th as the sun finally broke through dark and stormy skies, Wayne B. Davis passed on from this world. Beloved father, friend, and grandfather, Wayne will be truly missed by all he touched and loved.
We as a family find our hearts lightened knowing that he has rejoined the love of his life, our mother, Phyllis Ann Davis.
Wayne was ill for many years. He met each obstacle with a strength that few can comprehend. All the while he held on to his belief in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
During these years he gained a new appreciation for time with his family and friends meeting each visit eagerly. Our sincere thanks are extended to all who lent support, time, and love along the way.
Wayne was a life long resident of the MS Gulf Coast. Although born in Saucier, MS, he spent most of his years residing in Latimer, MS. He joined the Army in 1961 and was stationed in Europe where he received the 'Good Conduct Award.' With honorable discharge, Wayne worked at Borden Milk Company eventually moving to Coast Electric as a lineman.
He joined the Civil Service filling many positions until his medical retirement in 2001 as Civil Service Quality Inspector.
Avid nature lover, Wayne became an owner / member of Bluff Creek hunting Club where he finally got his eight point buck after many years of true sportsmanship. Wayne was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus Biloxi Council 1244 since 1981.
Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis A Davis; his mother, Eva Ladnier; his father, Rufus Davis; his brother, Troy Davis; his sister, Gwen Guice; his brother-in-law, Joseph Guice, Jr; his nephews, Sean & Shea Guice; and his mother-in-law, Leila Pennell.
He is survived by daughter, Kirsten Wallis (Jerry) of OS; daughter, Kellye Weinhofer (Dan) of OS; son, Brent Davis of OS; granddaughters, Taylor Wallis and Samantha Weinhofer; grandson, Cohen Weinhofer; niece, Cindy Poulos (Danny); grand-nephew, Chance Poulos; grand-niece, Colbi Poulos; brothers-in-law, Billy Pennell & family and Bobby Pennell & family; sisters-in-law, Karen Stanley, Amy Hawkins & family and Martha Nell Paul & family;
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 3, 2010, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 10601 Daisy Vestry Rd., Vancleave, MS 39565, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at D'Iberville Memorial Park.
The family prefers memorials to be made to Christ the King Catholic Church.
The RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Gulfport, is in charge of arrangements.
