Warren Paul Whaley, Sr. passed away on March 27th, 2025 at the age of 95.
He is survived by his children, Heather Whaley Carpenter ( Rusty Carpenter), Warren Paul Whaley Jr. ( Joanna Logan Whaley), and Katherine Whaley Warren ( Mark E. Warren Sr.); six cherished grandchildren, Emily and Thomas Carpenter, Charlie and Abigail Whaley, Mark “Sonny” and Michael Warren; sister- in- law, Dr. Ethel Haas Boagni; nieces and nephews, Randi Whaley Henriques (Steve, Tanya & Tiffany), Thomas, Nancy & Mary Boagni; and dear family friend, Shawn Kohnke (Mignon, Bella & Emily) who was like a son to him; and more loving friends than we can mention.
He was preceded in death by 5 hours by his loving wife of 60+ years, Edda Haas Whaley; his brother, Thomas Lee Whaley II; and nephews, Thomas Lee Whaley III and Robert Boagni.
Warren was the son of the late Thomas Lee Whaley and Katherine Palmisano Whaley of New Orleans.
Born in New Orleans, LA, he attended Fortier High School where he was active in sports and a member of the Phi Lambda Epsilon (PLE) Fraternity. He then attended Louisiana State University where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE) Fraternity, and later received his B.S. Degree from S.L.I. in Lafayette, LA, and a commission to serve as 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. He spent one year in the states and two years at the Royal Air Force Base Chicksands in Bedfordshire, England. After returning home, he first worked for United Machinery Corp/ and then New Orleans Diamond and Jewelry as Vice President for the majority of his working career. From an early age, Warren was interested in all outdoor activities, fishing, hunting and sailboat racing as a member of the Southern Yacht Club. He was an avid duck hunter, who loved to introduce the sport to the younger generation and share his passion with family and friends. He was a member of several business, social and carnival organizations. Later in retirement, he moved to Pass Christian, MS and was a member of the Pass Christian Yacht Club. Warren had a great love of life and always loved a good party where he could spend the entire evening dancing with everyone women young or old. Warren never met a stranger. He treated everyone as a dear friend. Warren spent his life devoted to his wife, family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Little Sisters of the Poor or Holy Family Parish.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 12th with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Pass Christian MS. A celebration of his life will be held after the mass. He will be buried on Monday, April 14th with his family in the Lake Lawn Mausoleum in New Orleans, LA.
