Walter Frank Wilson, Sr., age 85 and a resident of Hattiesburg, died on Thursday, April 29, 2010, in Hattiesburg.
Mr. Wilson was a native of Purvis, and a longtime resident of the MS Gulf Coast. He retired after 20 years of service in the U.S. Army, having served in WWII and the Korean Conflict, and then he retired from the U.S. Navy Civil Service after 17 years of service. Mr. Wilson was full of life and was always laughing.
Mr. Wilson is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas C. & Euna Fortenberry Wilson; two brothers, and six sisters.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Martha Willis Wilson of Hattiesburg; his daughter, Diane (David) Wilson Moran of New Augusta; his son, Walter F. (Becki) Wilson, Jr. of Franklin, TN; his brother, Everette """"Pete"""" Wilson of Purvis; ten grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 274 Beauvoir Road in Biloxi, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery in Biloxi, with full military honors rendered by the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
