CMSgt Walter A. Racey, Sr., retired, U.S. Air Force, joined his loving wife of 58 years, Irma, in heaven on Wednesday, March 25, 2009.
He was co-founder and general manager of Gulf Coast Mental Health.
A devout servant of the Lord, he was a charter member and Deacon Emeritus of Bay Vista Baptist Church, Biloxi, where he served as custodian for ten years.
He served in the U. S. Air Force during World War II, the Korean War, served during the Vietnam War as NCOIC at Casualty Staging in Saigon, and retired after twenty three years with a rank of CMSgt. During his service tenure, he was the highest ranking NCO at Keesler Air Force Hospital.
Mr. Racey was preceded in death by his wife, Irma Racey; and his parents, Walter """"Earl"""" Racey and Rose Houdershelt Racey.
He is survived by his children, Paula Lee and her husband, Roger Wayne, of Saucier, Walter A. """"Allen"""" Racey, Jr., and his wife, Jeannine, of Saucier, and Michael Dean Racey and his wife, Annette, of Costa Rica; eight grandchildren, Kristina Summers and her husband, Joe, Kimberley Michelle Kraeer and her husband, Jason, Shannon Lee and his wife, Angela, Jeremy Racey, Joshua Racey and his wife, Ashley, Jansen Lee and his wife, Amanda, Travis Racey, and Alicia Racey; and eight great-grandchildren, Christopher Fernandez, Brandon Fernandex, Emily Kraeer, Jacey Kraeer, Jonathan Racey, Kiera Racey, Racey Lee, and Camden Lee.
Memorials may be given to St. Jude's Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 30, 2009 at 1:15 PM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Rd., Biloxi, where family and friends may visit from 11:00 AM until service time. Burial with full military honors will follow at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
