Wade Junior Hendry, age 77, of Gulfport, MS, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022, in Gulfport.
Wade honorably served in the United States Marine Corps from March 1962 until March 1968, with the 2nd Anglico where he obtained the rank of Sgt. He was awarded the Rifle Marksmanship Badge, Navy & Marine Corp Parachute Insignia, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Vietnam), and the Navy & Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal (Cuba).
While serving in the Marine Corps, he attended the Shore Fire Control in Little Creek, VA for Shore Fire Control, and Airbourne @ Fort Benning, GA, for parachutist. He worked at and retired from Cable One, and was a volunteer fire-fighter for many years. He was a life-time member of the VFW 2539 where he was the former Commander and District Commander, and with the Knights of Columbus and of the DAV.
He enjoyed fishing, reading, golfing, hunting, coin collecting and playing with the grandkids. Wade was a wonderful husband and father to our children. He was a great Paw Paw to any child that walked through the door. You may be gone from our side, but never gone from our hearts. Patty Cakes and Brat miss you!
Wade was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Grace Tate Hendry and Wade O. Hendry; and his granddaughter, Anastasia Marie Hollen.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Dorothy A. Hendry; his 4 sons & 2 daughters, Chris Clark (Dana) of Corpus Christi, TX, Brian Clark (Kelly) of Ocean Springs, Scott Clark (Ronda) of Wiggins, Jay Hendry of Gulfport, Michele Clark Hollen (Reno) of Saucier, and Stephanie Hendry Fontenot (Jeff) of Gulfport; his brother, BM Hendry of Gulfport; his grandchildren, Ashton Hamby (Mallory) of Davenport, IA, Andrew Clark of Austin, TX, Jess Strunk (Pat) of Gulfport, Samantha Bresnahan (Jeremiah) of Monmouth, IL, Cortney Necaise (Amber) of Toronto, OH, Chelsea Logsdon (Dustin) of Little York, IL, Zachary Clark of Wiggins, Alex Clark of Corpus Christi, Alexis Hollen of Gulfport, Kayla Crissinger of Ocean Springs, Alyssa Hollen Cook (Austin) of Toronto, OH, Hunter Clark of Mobile, Aidan Clark of Corpus Christi, Preston Clark of Ocean Springs, and Natalie Monroe of Gulfport; his many great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving family members and friends.
Friends are invited to join the family for visitation on Thursday, May 19th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, MS.
On Friday, May 20th, Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 12 Noon at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 12290 Depew Road, Gulfport, MS, where friends may visit one hour prior, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Mr. Hendry will be laid to rest at Biloxi National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
