Virginia Jo Barnes

Virginia J. Beard Barnes, age 94, of Long Beach, passed away on June 28, 2022.

She was preceded in death by her husband, H.D.Barnes; a brother, Charles Beard; a sister, Peggy Miller; and a grandson, Boe Collins.

Mrs. Barnes is survived by her children, Penny (JD) Tripp, Connie (Bill) Donahue, and Mike (Valarie) Barnes; her grandchildren, Christy (David) Peterson, Mark (Amy) Donahue, Greg (Erika) Donahue, Katharine Barnes, Tim (Stacie) Tripp, and Amy (Louis) Elias; and her great- grandchildren: Faith Peterson, Molly Donahue, JT Tripp, Guice Tripp, Tripp Elias, Tucker Elias.

Mrs. Barnes was a native of Memphis, TN and she traveled with her husband as a career Army wife.  She loved sewing, embroidery, needlework, and she also enjoyed baking and playing Bingo.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Long Beach and the United Methodist Women.

The family would like to say Thank You to the staff at Lakeview Nursing Center for the long term care of our mother and grandmother. We also want to thank the staff at St. Joseph Inpatient Hospice for their compassion with her end of life care.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to be made to your favorite charity.

A graveside service will be at 12:30 pm, Wednesday, July 6, 2022, in Biloxi National Cemetery.
