Virginia Pitts

July 21, 1925 — April 4, 2017

Virginia Norton Pitts of Long Beach, MS, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at the age of 91 in Newton, MS. She was born on July 21, 1925 to Thomas Jesse Norton and Mary Etta Norton. Mrs. Pitts was a member of First Baptist Church of Long Beach. She was employed at Naval Construction Battalion Center in Gulfport, MS for 29 years, and volunteered at the VA Center in Gulfport for 9 years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Long Beach Chapter 306, for over 58 years. She served as a She was a grand officer of the Grand Chapter of Mississippi, she served as Grand Representative of New Hampshire and Wyoming, and a worthy matron four times of her home chapter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Melvin Pitts; her children, Alan Pitts (and daughter-in-law, Catherine Pitts), Patricia Carol Pitts, and Stephen Jesse Pitts.
Virginia is survived by her grandchildren, Jeffery (Fran) Pitts of Lawrence, MS, and Christopher (Maria) Pitts of Forest, MS; one sister, Annie Mae Davis of Birmingham, AL; her great-grandchildren, Nikki Triplett, Avery Pitts, Devan Pitts, and Brayden Pitts, all of Forest, MS; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens.
