Virginia H. Newman, 90, of Gulfport, died Thursday, April 2, 2009 at her residence.
Mrs. Newman, a native of Perry County, MS, was a life-long resident of Gulfport. She was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church, then became a charter member of Robinwood Baptist Church. She was an original employee for the Phillips Milk of Magnesia Plant in Gulfport. Mrs. Newman loved her cat and tending to her flowers and garden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Newman, Sr.; her parents, James and Alberta Dennis Harrison; her son, Dewey """"Pete"""" Cruthirds; and her 3 brothers. Survivors include her daughters, Judy Edna (Harvey) Page of Gulfport and Trudy Virginia (Fred) Toche of Pass Christian; her son, Jimmy (Belva) Newman of Woolmarket; her sister, Eddie Marie Davis fo New Mexico; 9 grandchildren, J.D., Judy, Jessica, Trudy, Jennifer, Wynne, Megan, Sandy and Scotty; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren on the way; and 2 nephews, Johnny and Buddy Davis.
The Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport, where friends may visit one hour prior. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
