Virginia """"Dilly"""" Roberts Fetterley, age 68, resident of Gulfport, MS, died Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at home with her family by her side.
She was born January 19, 1941, in Kasota, MN. She was the fourth child of Clayton and Harriet Roberts. Virginia was a 1958 graduate of St. Peter High School and retired from the Veteran's Adminstration Medical Center in Gulfport and Biloxi, MS, and was employed by the IP Casino Resort and Spa. Virginia, loved life and her family, and never met a stranger during her life's journey. Our Mom truly lived up to her nickname, """"Dilly."""" Our Mom, Grandma, Aunt, Sister, and Friend, will be deeply missed. """"What a great Lady, we all love you Mom."""" To all who knew our Mom, """"Just remember this, don't be sad her life has ended, be happy her life happened.""""
Virginia Roberts Fetterley, was preceded in death by her parents, Clayton and Harriet Roberts; sister and brother-in-law, Jacqueline and Gordon Freeburg of Chanhassen, MN; brother, Clayton Roberts of Redwing, MN; brother-in-law, John Skelly of Henderson, MN; and brother-in-law, Gary Matsenbaugh of Long Beach, MS.
Virginia is survived by her siblings, Dawn R. Matsenbaugh of Gulfport, MS, Gary Roberts (Mary Jo) of Mankato, MN, Magaret Skelly of LeSueur, MN, Jerry Roberts (Sarah) of Kasota, MN, and sister-in-law, Cheri Roberts of Redwing, MN; children, Shannon Gale Yarbrough (Hubert) of Gulfport, MS, Troy Roberts Fetterley (Heather) of Perkinston, MS, and Wayne E. """"Jack"""" Fetterley, Jr. (Dawn) of Pearl City, HI; her lifelong best friend and huge part of her life and our family, Jimmy """"Ray"""" Dubuisson of Gulfport, MS; five grandchildren, Nicholas Jason Hebert, Kevin Roberts Hebert, Ethan Thomas Fetterley, Sean Logan Fetterley, Megan Marie Fetterley; several nieces and nephews, especially, Gary """"Char"""" Matsenbaugh (Adriane) and Amy Suzanne Matsenbaugh; great nieces and nephew, Grace, Max, and Jordan.
Our family wishes to deeply thank Dr. Purushottam Pande and staff, the oncology floor nursing staff, and Mrs. Rosetta of MHG Hospice for their unique friendships and professional care of our mother. A special thanks also goes to all of Virginia's friends and coworkers of the VA Medical Center and IP Casino Resort and Spa for their loving support and friendships.
We will take our Mom back to her home state of Minnesota, where in the Spring of 2010, a memorial service will be held ot honor and celebrate her life.
