Virginia Evans

Virginia Elaine Evans, age 88 of Gulfport, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wessie and Mary Louise Long; her husband, Port G. Evans; the father of her children, Ronny L. Hurlbert; her son, Ronny L. Hurlbert, Jr.; her sisters, Verdace Canady, Betty Prestwood, and Sandra Logan; and her brothers, Huey P. Long and James B. Long.

Virginia is survived by her children, Theresa E. Murphy (Curtis), Rebecca L. Glass (Hilton), Veronica Faye Hurlbert, and David A. Hurlbert; her siblings, Gene Long (Pat) and Mary Huston (Ben); her grandchildren, Felisha Ellis (Russ), Christy Seal (Paul), Tiffany Menard (Barrett), Michelle Glass, Marie Hurlbert, and Christina Waskom (Chase); her great grandchildren, Austin Seal, Dustin Seal, Justin Seal, Dylan Ellis, Barrett Menard, Jr., Patrick Menard, Jace Miller, Colin Seal, Paisleigh Seal, Addalynn Seal, Rowan Hurlbert, Alexandra Hurlbert, and Daemon Hurlbert; her great-great granddaughter, Magnolia Seal; and numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins, and relatives.

She was a native of Coldwater, MS with an Associate degree in Education.  Virginia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.  She enjoyed attending church, cooking, and baking.  But, most of all, she loved spoiling her family.

Ms. Virginia Evans was a strong Christian woman of faith.  She often shared her faith and prayed for others.

A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00pm, Friday, January 6, 2023, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, funeral service will begin at 2:00pm with interment to follow at Murphy Family Cemetery.
