Vincent Walter ""Vince"" Ladner, 76, of Gulfport passed away June 30, 2012 in Jackson. He was born November 2, 1935 in the Dedeaux Community to Walter and Alezia Ladner. Affectionately known as ""Khaki"" to his only grandchild, Steven, who was his pride and joy. Khaki loved to fish and spend time with his family.
Vince attended St. Joseph's High School in Pass Christian and William Carey College. He retired after 40 years of service in the Mississippi Army National Guard as a W3 Warrant Officer. Of the 40 years with the National Guard, he served 33 years in the Civil Service Division.
He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Gulfport, Joppa Shrine Temple, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Polar Star Masonic Lodge #154 in Handsboro, and was an active member in the Krewe of Gemini.
Vince was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Elus, Huvick, and Robert Ladner.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Shirley Ladner; son, Dale (Susan) Ladner of Gulfport; grandson, Steven (Ann Barrett) Ladner of Gulfport; sister, Marie Pique of Gulfport; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, July 2, 2012 at 3:00 pm at St. James Catholic Church in Gulfport. Visitation will be from 1:30 pm until 3:00 pm at the church. Entombment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport.
