Victor Hand Williamson, age 90, of Hurley, was born on April 16, 1920 in Union, MS and passed away on March 9, 2011, in Biloxi.
Mr. Williamson was a member of Hurley Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during WWII. He received a military cross from the UDC, played at the New Orleans World's Fair Music Stage featuring Southern Old Tyme, and was honored at the Veterans Memorial in Washington DC. He love gardening, farming, and playing violin. He also enjoyed reading his Bible and driving his car.
Mr. Williamson was preceded in death by his wife, Lozelle Hubbard Williamson; his parents, John E. and Etta Hand Williamson; his brothers, Mortimer C. Williamson, Hubert W. Williamson, John Carlton Williamson, Malcolm Williamson, and Gerald Williamson; and his sisters, Madge Marie Lang, Rebecca Ann Williams, and Betty Joyce Wilson.
He is survived by his daughter, Vicki Willamson Cooley; grandchildren, Courtney Womble Cochran, LynLee Cooley, and April Sweeting; two great grandchildren, Caden Jacob Cochran and Chloe Jade Cochran, all of Hurley, MS; and brother Harold G. Williamson and wife Louise, of Collinsville, MS; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 11, 2011, at Hurley Baptist Church, 6810 Hurley Wade Rd., Moss Point, MS 39562, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at 2:00 PM at the church. Burial will follow at Serene Memorial Garden Cemetery.
