Colonel Vernon Musgrave, United States Air Force, Ret, age 71, of Long Beach, passed away on April 14, 2014 in Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Edra Musgrave; a brother, David Musgrave of Springfield, IL; and an infant brother, Joseph Musgrave of Wayne County, IL.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Alice Musgrave of Long Beach; four children, Sherri Byrd of Long Beach, Lee Musgrave of Garner, NC, Steven Musgrave (Christine) of Petal, MS, and Shannon Crowder (Jason) of Long Beach; four grandchildren, Brandin Musgrave, Tyler Musgrave, Kelsey Byrd, and Rylie Byrd, all of Long Beach; and his siblings, Ray Musgrave (Patsy) of St. Charles, MO, Tom Musgrave (DeeAnna) of Kentucky, and Freda Musgrave of Fairfield, IL.
Colonel Musgrave served in the United States Air Force where he was a F4 Fighter Pilot and later an instructor for F4 pilots and retired after 25 years of service. He moved to the Gulf Coast in 1978 and worked with the Mississippi Air National Guard as an active duty operations officer in charge of all flying operations at Gulfport field and the target range at Camp Shelby; then retired in 1989. He worked with the MS Air National Guard as a civilian instructor and retired in 2010.
He was the world's best PaPaw.

The funeral service with military honors will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 4:00 PM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Rd, Long Beach with a visitation for family and friends from 2:30 PM until the service.
