Vera Marie Lewis

Vera Marie (Harden) Lewis, born September 9, 1939 in Denver, CO to George Harden and Vera Isabelle (Smith), died Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at Gulfport Memorial Hospital, in Gulfport, MS.
She was a loving wife and devoted mother who will be sadly missed. Vera was 71 years old when she lost her four year battle with cancer. She devoted many years of her life working as a Registered Nurse and retired in 1996.
Vera is survived by Jake Lewis, her husband of 55 years, and Joann Pates, granddaughter, who lived with her and her husband in Biloxi, MS; three sons, Jake Lewis, III and wife Lisa, Charles Jesse Lewis and wife Kathy, John Steven Lewis and wife Laura; one daughter Vera Ann Marie Lewis and husband Matthew Pates; seven grandchildren, Jacob Lewis, IV, Christopher Stephen Lewis, Samantha Nichole Lewis, Jesse Fritz, Joann Marie Pates, Megan Marie Lewis, Shelby Darlene Lewis; and several nieces and nephews.
Vera was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister. She attended the New Wine Program and afterward taught several bible study classes at St. Mary Catholic Church.
Friends are invited to visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 17, 2010 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 2:15 p.m. going to the church.
