Vallie Dale Edwards

October 12, 1937 — July 31, 2024

Ethel

Vallie Bain Edwards was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend. She left this world suddenly on July 31, 2024, at the age of 86.

She was born to Alvin and Mavis Bain on October 12, 1937. She graduated from Ethel High School. Vallie enjoyed attending church where she met her husband, Floyd Lee Edwards. Together, they had 3 children: Sherree, Vicki, and Rebecca. They moved to Jackson, MS where Vallie worked at Presto Corporation. The family moved to Tampa, Florida, and later Jacksonville Florida. They eventually returned home to her beloved Mississippi.

Vallie loved spending time in the kitchen, creating meals for her family. Everyone loved her family recipes, and she baked many things from scratch as well.

Neighborhood children would gather around the kitchen table for after school snacks and loved listening to her stories of her family and country life. She was a lover of music and singing. Blue Danube by Strauss was her favorite classical piece. Few know that she sang on the radio with her cousin, Charlene Bain, on Sunday mornings.

She loved flowers and grew beautiful vegetable gardens.

As she aged and they became empty nesters, most Sundays were spent attending church, and they enjoyed volunteering at the church food pantry helping the needy and veterans. Vallie was always there for friends and family and was the first to make food for a sick neighbor.

Vallie was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Lee Edwards and daughter, Evelyn Sherree Bareswilt.

She is survived by her daughters, Vicki Edwards House (Elton) and Rebecca Ann Edwards (Julie Edwards-Manshel); five grandchildren, Jessica Michelle Brewer, Daniel Lee Bareswilt (Karla Aguayo), Rebekah Joy Bareswilt, Daniel Edward Swanson (Chiara Bisson Swanson, from Italy) and Rachel Swanson Davis (Dakota Davis); three great grandchildren, Ashe Olberding, Finn Olberding and Isiah Daniel Swanson; her brother, Nathan Earl Bain (Violet Bain); her sister, Laurie Bain Armstrong (Gary Armstrong) and nieces and nephews, Daniel Cartlidge, Devonna Hamilton, Debert Bain, Iris Moir and Amelia Bain.

A private family service and celebration of life is scheduled at Carson Ridge Cemetery in Ethel, MS.

Riemann Family Funeral Home, Gulfport, served the family. An online guestbook may be signed and memories shared at www.riemannfamily.com

In lieu of flowers, the family are accepting donations for a memorial headstone in her honor.
