Ulrica E. Mitcham

October 2, 1918 — March 20, 2011

Ulrica E. Mitcham passed away peacefully at her home in Gulfport at the age of 92 years on March 20, 2011.
Mrs. Mitcham was born in Tubingen, Germany on October 2, 1918. She has been a resident of Gulfport since 1953 and lived in New York City prior to her move here. She comes from a very fascinating, very talented family who moved to New York during World War II from Germany.
Her life was one of great importance and much happiness with her friends, the beloved Jehovah Witnesses, though interwined with much bittersweetness also. She was an avid, great gardener, painter, and faithful member of her congregation.
Mrs. Mitcham has closed her eyes and is awaiting the Resurrection. She will be sorely missed; a great loss to all; a wonderful, sweet person.
She was a proud member of the East Gulfport Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She retired after 30 years of service at Keesler Air Force Base.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William ""The Medicine Man"" Mayer and Elizabeth Wolff Mayer; a sister, Beata Wachstein; a brother, Rev. Michael G. Mayer; and a son, James Howard Mitcham, III; and her deceased, the late and great husband, James Howard Mitcham, II, a legendary artist, author and chef of Cape Cod and New Orleans.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Barbara Sabina Donnamario and her much beloved husband and son in law, Ron, of Cape Cod, MA; her beloved grandson, Ron Donnamario; two much beloved great grandchildren, Joseph Antonio and Jasmine Simone Donnamario of Chicago and Cape Cod; her daughter, Julia Farrely Turansky of Cincinnati, OH; a beloved granddaughter, Rachel Turansky of Cincinnati, OH; two much beloved nieces, Muki Fairchild Keith and her husband, and Monica Wachstein-Schmid of Germany; a beloved brother, John Chris Mayer of Tamaqua, PA; and a very large, wonderful group of very good friends, the Jehovah Witnesses who cared for her in her sickness and health.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 4:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 12304 Three Rivers Rd, Gulfport.
