Our beloved, Trudy Marie Crumb, entered Everlasting Life on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at 4:25 AM in York, PA. She was 59.
Trudy was born in Lancaster, PA on May 23, 1963, as the youngest child to Annie Powell. Shortly after, their family moved to Gulfport, MS. This is where Trudy grew up and became the woman that we all grew to know and love. Trudy was blessed to bring her 3 children into this world, Jillian, Lauren, and Stephen. One evening, while out doing one of the things she loved doing...dancing at Michael's. This is where she met this young military man, who also happened to be a country dance instructor, Wendell Crumb. This man would end up becoming her soulmate and husband. Trudy's family would grow a little more with the addition of Joshua and Lindsey.
This started the journey of her life that most people could only dream of having. Wendell and Trudy proceeded to move around the United States including their first move...to Cairo, Egypt. Needless to say, Trudy was not the biggest fan of this new place that was not the coastline of Mississippi. After this first adventure, they moved to Bossier City, Louisiana, Clovis, New Mexico, and then finally Wendell retired from the Air Force at Langley AFB, Virginia. The Crumb family finally had time to breathe from the busy military life to lay roots down near the location of her birth in Hanover, Pennsylvania.
So many memories were made with Trudy's now large family. Her 10 grandchildren, who are and have always been the biggest joy in her life, created memories that storybooks would be jealous of. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sibling, and friend to anyone who was lucky enough to have been blessed by her presence in their lives.
For those of you who ever knew Trudy, knew that Trudy loved to spoil her grandkids, binge discount shop and speak her mind when she felt you needed to know it (which was all the time). She was our Matriarch and the glue to our family. She had an almost unhealthy love affair with music. She made it known that there was not a music related board game that anyone could even come close to competing with her in. She loved her Phillies and Dallas Cowboys (even though her "Boys made her blood pressure go through the roof). Trudy did not really like getting in the open water, but she absolutely loved Dolphins. She loved to dance, and she adored all her Special Needs kids, they held such a significant place in her heart.
Trudy would help any person with anything, it was one of those exceptional things about her that you don't find anymore. In her and Wendell's 31 years together, Trudy had her dogs Shorty and her baby Charlie Brown. She was also one of the most avid photographers known to this world. Thousands of pictures, and thousands of memories captured forever because of her love.
Trudy and Wendell built such an amazing world together, and Trudy's legacy will endure forever. The world is a lesser place without her, but Heaven gained the Angel they were waiting for.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Annie Powell and her father, Christopher Powell, Sr. Trudy is survived by her husband, Wendell Crumb; her five children, Jillian Browning (Chris), Lauren Ferrell (Chris), Stephen Hersey (Mara), Joshua Crumb (Azzy), and Lindsey Shultzman (Jordan). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brooke and Brayden Kelly, Myles Browning, Pyper, Maximus and Titan Ferrell, Trey and Remy Hersey, and Shea and Maddox Shultzman. The grandchildren were the lights of her life and she was theirs. She is also survived by her three brothers, Travis Taylor (Celia), William Taylor, and Christopher Powell, Jr. (Randy); and her two sisters, Tracie Burnette and Tammie Kates (Boyce). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews whom she loved.
