Tony Harrison

Tony David Harrison, age 81 of Vancleave passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2021.

Mr. Harrison, 81, was born 2 January 1940 in Montgomery AL to John and Evelyn Harrison, the oldest of 6 children. While living in Niceville FL, he graduated from Choctawhatchee High School in Shalimar FL. He loved and proudly served his country in the US Air Force as an aircraft mechanic in Vietnam, then moving into logistics and administration. In 1986 he retired at Keesler AFB at the rank of Master Sergeant. He then worked at the Biloxi VA and retired in 2004.

He was a deacon and active member of his beloved Shiloh Baptist Church in Banks AL prior to moving to Vancleave last year. Tony loved working on his farm and giving horse-drawn wagon rides to anyone brave enough to ride with him, as he wanted to blaze new trails through the woods and creeks. His wife and girls believed he could fix anything, solve any problem, and never knew the meaning of "fear" or "can't."

Heartfelt thanks to precious family members who gave unselfishly of their love and time to care for Tony and his three girls; his special caregivers who lifted his spirits and brightened his days; the compassionate staffs of Fresenius Kidney Care (Lamey Bridge Rd and Cook Rd centers), and SAAD's Home Health and Hospice.

Tony is survived by Carla (Smith), his wife of 60 years; daughters, Laurie (Billy), and Jennifer; and 4 siblings: Jeanette Clanahan (Herman) of Red Level AL, Jackie Harrison (Daisy) of Banks AL, John Harrison (Diane) of DeFuniak Springs FL, and Danny Harrison (Melissa) of Lake Charles LA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Evelyn Harrison, and his brother Bobby Harrison.

Tony went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 7, 2021. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He is forever loved and deeply missed.

Per his wishes, there will no services held at this time.
